How to Make the Self Portrait Handprint Craft
What you need:
- white cardstock
- pencil
- black marker
- coloring supplies (we used craft paint and a paintbrush, but markers or crayons work too)
- colored paper
- scissors
- glue stick
Step by Step Tutorial
Start with a blank piece of cardboard.

Have kids draw their face in the middle.

Add hair on top.

Draw the neck and body below the face.

Add eyes to bring the portrait to life.

Color in the face.

Then, color in the hair.

Draw a smile and a nose with a marker.

Color in the clothes.

Take a piece of skin-colored paper, fold it in half, and have the kids trace one of their hands onto it with a pencil.
Outline the hand shape with a marker.

Cut out the hand shape to get two handprints (or have them trace the other hand). Outline the second handprint with a marker as well.
Then glue one handprint to the left side of your portrait and the other to the right side.

All done!

Celebrate creativity and self-expression with this fun self-portrait handprint craft, which allows kids to create a picture of themselves, complete with their own handprints.
