Supplies Needed
Here are the simple supplies you’ll need for this Valentines themed art activity.
- White Cardstock or notecard with a heart drawn on it
- Craft tray or pan (we get our metal pans at the Dollar Store)
- Piece of cardboard
- Sharpie
- Q-tips
- Scissors (for the grown up)
- Washable Paint
Prep Ahead
Here are a few things you’ll want to prep ahead for young kids. Older kids can cut these on their own.
- Draw a heart onto white cardstock or a white blank notecard.
- Add the washable paint to container or use muffin tin. Prep at least one day in advance of a Valentine art project (prior to spread of glitter, especially): cull colored papers, gain access to scissors, glue sticks, markers, stickers, glitter and furthermore, make those as well as other materials gathered, organized. This will save time, where younger children are used, cut some heart shapes in advance or card bases. Prepare the workspace by having table covers to cover the surfaces and put supplies in small baskets or containers in order to share easily. Have some sample or starter crafts to do as examples that can bring on a spark, and have spare supplies so in case of error there is a back up. It is also done in advance to be able to go through the project smoothly and to maintain creativity and fun as the key concept.

How to set up this Valentine Art Project
In setting up a Valentine art project, it is best to gel all materials required including red, pink and white papers, scissors, glue, markers, glitters, ribbons and sticker items that can be used as decorative accessories. Get a comfortable working place where participants will spread with their materials and supplies easily. Have a well-defined theme, like creating handmade cards of valentines, heart shapes crafts and paintings like love or heart critiques and keep some of the examples ready to give a kick-start. Foster creativity by letting your participants color to their heart content and write messages or create out-of-the-box designs. Use slight background music to make the being warm and remind all the visitors of the fact that the aim of the project is to show love, kindness and creativity in the funny, personal manner.
