How to Make Newspaper Dog Collage
What you need:
- printable template (optional)
- old newspaper
- watercolors (various colors)
- paintbrush
- white paper
- blue cardstock
- white liner
- black marker
- glue stick
- scissors
Step by Step Tutorial
Gather all the necessary supplies for the project.
This includes a sheet of an old newspaper or a magazine.

Print out the template or have kids sketch two triangles that will become the dog’s ears, two ovals for the head and snout (one larger and one smaller), and a semicircle to represent the dog’s body on white paper.

Cut out the shapes and place them onto the newspaper.

Using the black marker, have kids start tracing around the edges of each shape.

The parts are prepared.

Once done, they can remove the white paper templates.

Encourage your children to choose their favorite colors of paint to fill in the shapes. Let them be creative with their choices!
For instance, they can paint one ear red.

And the other one with yellow paint.

Have them paint the dog’s body (semicircle).

Cut out the pieces.

Prepare a colorful cardstock.

Once the paint has dried, kids can then glue the semicircle (the dog’s body) to the bottom of the cardstock.

Continue assembling the dog by gluing the larger oval (the dog’s head) slightly overlapping the body.

Next, they can attach the colorful ears.

Attach the snout as well.

With the black marker, have your children draw the dog’s eyes, nose, and mouth, giving it a playful expression.

For an extra touch, they can add a bit of shine by making two tiny white dots inside the eyes using a white marker.
