Try sharpie hat art for kids! This is such an easy party craft for kids! I did these with 3rd graders but they could be fun for all ages (toddlers all the way to grown ups)!

- Sharpies (variety of colours)
- (Optional) Decorative sticky patches
- (Optional) Decorative sticky letter patches
Instructions for Sharpie Hat Art for Kids
Decorating hats at a party is such an easy activity! Here’s what we did!
- First put craft trays and baskets of Sharpies on a table.
- Next put a variety of coloured hats so that kids can pick their favourite colours.
- Give kids a theme for their hat decorating (we picked a summer theme, since it was a summer party).
- Tell the kids that they need to put their name on the hat somewhere.
- Give them colourful patches with letters or images to stick onto the hat too, especially if they’re younger and less interested in drawing.
- Let kids create! It’s fun to see how each hat will be different!
Once kids are done decorating, kids can wear their hats for the rest of the party and take them home as their party favour!
Why Sharpie Hat art?
Sharpies are such a versatile art tool! There are a ton of different colors and types kids can use too.
My kids aren’t allowed to Sharpies that often (since they’re permanent) so any art activity with them feels extra special!
Remind kids to draw with Sharpies ONLY on the hats and not on the trays, tables, or themselves! Only do this activity with kids who can follow those instructions.
